World tennis is currently witnessing the rise of many talented young stars.
Brazilian young player Joao Fonseca is emerging as one of the most notable phenomena on the ATP Tour. Within just one year, the 19-year-old talent has made a remarkable leap from outside the top 100 to the top 25, while also winning his first two ATP titles.
Even Novak Djokovic has praised Fonseca generously, calling this young player a "future superstar." However, the Grand Slam record holder believes Fonseca is not the only young talent deserving attention. According to Djokovic, two other names are Jakub Mensik and Learner Tien are also rising strongly and possess great potential.
During the 2025 season, Mensik created one of the most impressive stories on the ATP Tour. The Czech player, then only 19 years old, successively defeated strong opponents like Jack Draper, Arthur Fils, Taylor Fritz, and even Djokovic to win the Miami Open. This achievement made Mensik one of the formidable young faces in men's tennis.
Meanwhile, Learner Tien has also made significant progress. The American player shocked the scene early in the 2025 season by defeating Daniil Medvedev at the Australian Open, before ending the year with his first ATP title in Metz. Moving into the 2026 season, Tien continued to maintain impressive form by reaching his first Grand Slam quarterfinal in Melbourne.
Djokovic stated that he is particularly impressed with Tien's progress, even though this player hasn't received as much attention as Fonseca. According to Nole, Tien is a very talented player and has delivered many memorable performances recently. He emphasized that the current young generation, including Fonseca, Mensik, and Tien, all deserve attention due to the impressive results they achieved over the past year.
Another factor that makes Djokovic confident in Tien's future is the guidance of legend Michael Chang. According to the Serbian player, Chang's experience and understanding of pressure—having won a Grand Slam at a very young age—will be a valuable support for Tien on his development journey.
