Novak Djokovic has officially withdrawn from Miami Open 2026 due to a right shoulder injury, just days after being eliminated at Indian Wells Masters. This decision could cause the Serbian star to lose his Top 3 position in the ATP rankings.
The information was confirmed on the ATP Tour official website. Accordingly, the Serbian veteran had to withdraw from the tournament held at Hard Rock Stadium due to a right shoulder injury.
At 38 years old, Djokovic continues to maintain impressive form in the 2026 season. He reached the Australian Open final earlier this year and currently holds a 7-win – 2-loss record in singles matches this season, according to ATP statistics. However, the Serbian player appears to have physical issues following a three-set loss to Jack Draper in the fourth round of Indian Wells Open. The match was decided by a tie-break in the final set and is believed to have significantly affected Djokovic's shoulder area.

Djokovic is experiencing issues with his left shoulder and must withdraw from Miami Open 2026
Djokovic's absence is a significant loss for Miami Open. He currently shares the record for most tournament titles with six victories alongside legend Andre Agassi. Last year, he reached the final before losing to Jakub Mensik.
Moreover, this withdrawal threatens Nole's world No. 3 ranking. German player Alexander Zverev – who recently reached the Indian Wells semifinals – has the opportunity to surpass him in the ATP rankings if he achieves a good result in Miami.
Djokovic currently also holds the record for the most ATP Masters 1000 titles in history with 40 championships, and possesses a total of 101 ATP titles in his career. His most recent title came in November last year in Athens.

Djokovic is currently the co-record holder of Miami Open with 6 championship wins
Despite the absence of Djokovic and other notable names, Miami Open 2026 still gathers many top stars. This year's Indian Wells champion Jannik Sinner aims to complete the "Sunshine Double" after defeating Daniil Medvedev in the California final. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz also aims to reclaim the Miami title after stopping in the Indian Wells semifinals.
In the women's event, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is considered the top contender following her Indian Wells championship, with the possibility of reuniting with familiar opponent Elena Rybakina after their thrilling match in California.
