Just as she regained her form, the former US Open champion faces physical issues before entering the major tournament.
Only a few days before Wimbledon 2026 is set to begin, Emma Raducanu has once again worried British fans, as reports emerge that she is struggling with fitness problems and may not be in optimal condition to compete in the home Grand Slam.
The 23-year-old player had just experienced a resurgence, reaching the final of the WTA 500 Queen's Club tournament—her best result of the 2026 season. Her impressive form on grass raised hopes that Raducanu would make an impact at Wimbledon, where she always receives special support from the home crowd.
However, these positive signs have quickly been overshadowed by a new injury. According to multiple sources, Raducanu is dealing with a leg or foot issue. Although her team insists she is still aiming to compete at Wimbledon, the cancellation of her training session on June 25 has only fueled further doubts.
After reaching the Queen's Club final, Raducanu also decided to withdraw from the Nottingham Open to prioritize recovery. She has not played any additional matches on grass and has also skipped the opportunity to compete at Eastbourne, a tournament widely seen as the final warm-up before Wimbledon.
If she is forced to withdraw or play below full fitness, this would be yet another unfortunate chapter in Raducanu's career, which has been repeatedly interrupted by injuries since her US Open title in 2021. In 2026 alone, she had to take several weeks off due to a prolonged virus before making a promising return at Queen's Club.
A rare bright spot for Raducanu is her reunion with coach Andrew Richardson, who guided her during her historic US Open victory in 2021. This year's Wimbledon will be the first Grand Slam the pair have worked together since that triumph in New York.
