ATP Indian Wells: Buyun Chokert lost to Medvedev in two sets and missed the round of 32

On March 7, local time, in the second round of the men's singles match at the ATP1000 Indian Wells Masters, Chinese player Buyun Chaokert lost 2-6/2-6 to the tournament's No. 5 seed Medvedev and missed the round of 32, and tasted the first defeat against the Russian player (5-0 before), and will next play in the Miami Masters. Medvedev's third-round opponent is No.31 seed and homegrown cannon Mickelsen, who eliminated qualifier Smith 6-3, 6-4.

On the men's side, two of the biggest seeds went out, with top seed Zverev missing out on a 6-4, 5-3 lead before being beaten 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(4) by Dutchman Gricosp, who claimed his first career top-five victory. With world number one Sinner suspended, it should have been a good opportunity for the German to compete for the crown of the ball, but he is drifting away from that goal with a record of just 4 wins and 4 losses after finishing runner-up in men's singles at this year's Australian Open.

Fourth seed Ruud lost 6-7(4), 6-3, 2-6 to local player Giron, who also won the top five for the first time, leaving only Medvedev and Tsitsipas in the top half of the men's singles bracket. Paulo, Rune, Musetti, Amber, Fes, Poplin, Berrettini and other seeded players advanced to the men's singles round of 32. No.19 seed Mahachi retired 6-4, 2-4 and 23rd seed Lehecka came back 6-3, 4-6, 5-7 to Britain's Norrie.
