WTA Indian Wells: Zheng Qinwen lost to Swiatek and missed the semifinals

On March 13, local time, the 2025 WTA Indian Wells station will compete for the women's singles 1/4 finals. No.8 seed Zheng Qinwen lost 3-6, 3-6 to No.2 seed Swiatek and missed out on qualifying for the semi-finals.

Swiatek

Zheng Qinwen has been a 1-6 loser in the previous seven meetings between the two sides, but she won the semi-finals at last year's Paris Olympics. In this match, Swiatek went all out in the opening game and took the lead with a break lead, and although Zheng Qinwen broke back at the end of the set, Swiatek took the next set 6-3. In the second set, Zheng Qinwen still couldn't find a way to contain his opponent, and although he broke back from 1-5 down, two double faults in the service game buried the whole match, and finally Swiatek won the next set 6-3 and advanced to the semifinals.

Andreyeva

This is Swiatek's 10th straight singles win at Indian Wells, and she will next face ninth seed Andreeva for the right to the final. The latter battled in two sets in the Women's Singles quarter-finals to defeat 23rd seed Svitolina 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals for the first time. After successfully advancing to the semifinals, Andreeva has surpassed Zheng Qinwen to No.8 in the instant ranking, setting a new career high.

 Sabalenka

Fifth seed and new Australian Open women's singles champion Keith continued her fine form as she needed just 64 minutes to beat wildcard Switzerland's Bencic 6-1, 6-1 to make it 16 straight singles wins this season. In the semi-finals, Keys will face world No.1 Sabalenka, who knocked out 24th seed Samsonova 6-2, 6-3, and it was from this year's Australian Open final that Keith snatched the trophy from the women's singles queen. The two Women's Singles semi-finals will be staged tomorrow morning from 7:00 a.m. Beijing time on Centre Court.
