Spain's Alcaraz was forced to withdraw from last month's Madrid Masters due to an adductor injury, but he is now fully fit to play at the Rome Masters.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Alcaraz responded to his injury: "I'm happy to be back at Roma, it's going to be my second time playing here, so I'm excited. So far, the training has been good, I'm in good shape, I'm 100 per cent ready for this event, so I can't wait to play tomorrow's game. ”
When asked about world number one Sinner's return for this tournament, Alcaraz gave a positive answer: "It's a good thing and I'm happy to see him back. It's been three months and obviously it's been a tough time for him, I'm sure he thinks it's a long time, but there's no better place for him to get back into the ring than here [in Rome], it's his home. We're in the top half of the draw and hopefully I'll be able to face him in the final...... I'm very happy to see him and his team members and I'm looking forward to his game and it's good for the fans. ”
This is Alcaraz's second career appearance at the Rome Masters, which he missed last year due to injury. The Spaniard entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed with a first-round bye and a second-round opponent against Lajovic.
