Djokovic's next fixture has been confirmed

Djokovic will play an ATP 250 event in the week before the French Open for the second year in a row after making a last-minute change to the Rome Masters after announcing his early withdrawal from the Rome Masters. He accepted a wild card invitation to the Geneva Open.

Djokovic will join Fritz, Ruud, Dimitrov and Mahach as the highest-ranked players in the tournament's draw.

For the top-ranked players, this is undoubtedly a departure from the traditional schedule, as they are often reluctant to compete in competitive tournaments before a Grand Slam.

Novak Djokovic will start the tournament with a three-game losing streak in the final of the Miami Open before losing the opening match of the second round at the Monte Carlo Masters and Madrid Open.

Having only played two matches on clay (one each in Monte Carlo and Madrid), his decision to skip the Rome ATP1000 Masters came as a surprise given the feeling that he was not well prepared on clay. Some say his withdrawal from the Rome Masters may have something to do with the fact that he was hit on the head by a water bottle during the Rome Masters last year. It is rumored that the tournament party refused to raise security measures after the incident, such as adding protective nets.

Djokovic has said in recent years that his main focus is on Grand Slam tournaments and that he wants to be at his best at Roland Garros (French Open).

The Geneva Open will take place from May 18 to 24, which will give him the opportunity to play a few more matches on clay before the French Open on May 26.

Djokovic has a similar schedule in 2024, playing at the Monte Carlo Masters and the Italian Open, skipping the Madrid Open and then signing up for the Geneva Open.

He will defend 100 points in this Swiss event. Last year he defeated Huffman in the first round, Talen in the quarterfinals and Mahachi in the semifinals in three sets.
