2025 French Open Day 6: Zheng Qinwen is one step closer to meeting Sabalenka and will face Samsonova

The 2025 French Open ended the sixth day of the main draw, and the top 16 places in the lower half of the men's singles and the top half of the women's singles were all determined. Zheng defeated qualifier 18-year-old Canadian Mboko in straight sets to face 19th seed Samsonova in the fourth round, her first seeded player at the French Open, who eliminated Yastremska 6-2, 6-3. Zheng Qinwen's quarter-final opponent world No. 1 Sabalenka also beat Serbia's Danilovic in two sets to advance to the fourth round against 16th seed Anisimova, who beat 22nd seed Taussen in two sets. Last year's champions and runners-up Swiatek and Paulini both won in two sets to reach the round of 16, with Swiatek facing old rival Rybakina in the fourth round, who eliminated former champion Ostapenko and Paulini facing 13th seed Svitolina in the fourth round.

In Men's Singles, second seed Alcaraz went one step further in defending his title after a four-set win in the evening court, where he faced 13th seed Shelton, who defeated qualifier Gigant in straight sets. Eighth seed Musetti was challenged by a four-set win over Navone and will face 10th seed Rune, who fought hard in five sets against homegrown Aris Aris. Fifteenth seed Tiafoe won the American derby against Koda and will face Altmaier, who had previously eliminated Fritz, in the fourth round. 12th seed Paul narrowly defeated Khachanov in five sets to reach the second week of the French Open for the first time in his career, and will face 25th seed Poplin in the fourth round.
