On July 20, 2025, the EFG Swiss Gstaad Open concluded. Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublikdefeated Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolowith scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, securing the title in this ATP 250 event. This marks his sixth singles title on the tour and his first victory on clay, adding an important highlight to his strong performance in the European summer season of 2025.
Throughout his path to the title, Bublik displayed consistent form—he did not lose a set before the final, and even when faced with challenges in the final, he managed to adjust quickly. Although he was broken early in the first set, he immediately broke back and maintained solid play to win; in the second set, facing Cerundolo's long rallies, he found himself on the back foot and was dragged into a decisive third set; however, in the crucial third set, he unleashed his baseline power, achieving a 100% first-serve success rate (winning all 16 first-serve points), ultimately sealing the victory in 2 hours and 8 minutes.
During the post-match award ceremony, Bublik joked, "This was not tennis at all; it was pure torture. This final will be one of the toughest matches I remember, and Juan and his team did a fantastic job."
As a first-time participant, he also praised the tournament venue: "The views of the Alps are stunning; I can't wait to come back next year."
His final opponent, J. Cerundolo (brother of F. Cerundolo), defeated top seed Ruud in the quarterfinals with a score of 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. On Monday, his ATP ranking will return to the top 100, rising 28 spots to rank 81. He is just two places away from his best ranking of 79.

Bublik's championship is a strong testament to his recent resurgence. Since the Madrid Open in mid-April, he has achieved a record of 17 wins and 5 losses on the tour, including a title at the ATP 500 event in Halle; even after his surprising first-round exit at Wimbledon earlier this month, he quickly bounced back, winning this week against players like Shevchenko and Comesana.
With this victory, Bublik will re-enter the top 30 of the PIF ATP rankings on Monday. It is noteworthy that he struggled earlier in 2025—before the Madrid Open in April, he had only 3 wins against 10 losses, and his ranking even dropped to 82 in mid-March; his current resurgence can be described as a "comeback."
