French tennis star Garcia held a dream wedding with her partner Borja Durán in Spain last weekend, stepping into a new phase of life together. The couple celebrated their union at the La Torre Del Remei castle in Catalonia, where they flawlessly transitioned from a traditional church ceremony to a lively party. Garcia described it on social media as "the most beautiful day of our lives," sharing several wedding photos. Many tennis friends, including Badosa, Muguruza, and Jabeur, sent their congratulations.
Before the start of this year's French Open, Garcia announced her impending retirement, after which a farewell ceremony was held at her hometown Grand Slam event to honor the illustrious career of the former French number one. Although Garcia was defeated in the first round of singles by American player Pera, she advanced to the third round in doubles alongside compatriot Parry. Players such as Cornet, Burel, and Parry were also present at Garcia's wedding.
Garcia previously stated that she would participate in a "few" events this year, but she is gradually transitioning to life after retirement—last year she enrolled at Harvard Business School and co-hosted a podcast with her husband Durán, featuring tennis stars like Osaka and Swiatek as guests.
