The current world number two, Alcaraz, announced on social media that he will be withdrawing from this year's ATP 1000 Toronto Masters.

"The continuous weeks of matches have made it impossible for me to participate in Toronto this year. I have some muscle issues that need to be addressed, and I need to recover both physically and mentally to prepare for upcoming competitions. I sincerely apologize to the tournament and my fans in Canada, and I'll see you next year!" Alcaraz wrote.

Alcaraz's most recent event was Wimbledon, where he lost to world number one Sinner in the men's singles final, finishing as the runner-up. The Spaniard has achieved a record of 48 wins and 6 losses this season, securing five titles, including the French Open.

The ATP Toronto Masters main draw will begin on July 28, with the finals scheduled for Thursday, August 7.
