The fourth round of the Toronto Masters saw four matches in the top half conclude successfully.

Top seed Zverevwas leading with a score of 6-4/1-0 when Cerundolo retired. This is Zverev's first win over Cerundolo, and it came in such an unexpected way. In their previous three encounters on clay, Zverev had lost to his opponent.

Eighteenth seed Popelinmade a comeback to defeat fifth seed Rune with a score of 4-6/6-2/6-3. Statistics show that Popelin outperformed Rune in serving, returning, and winning points, securing the match with a total score of 96 to 78.

Eleventh seed Khachanovdefeated eighth seed Ruud with a score of 6-4/7-5. This marks his first victory over Ruud, with a head-to-head record of 1-2.

Twenty-sixth seed Mitchellsonwon against compatriot friend Renachin with a score of 6-3/6-4, improving his head-to-head record to 2-0. This was the earliest match to finish. Renachin, the only unseeded player in the round of 16 at just 19 years old, exited in the fourth round. His ATP ranking now stands at 55, closely trailing another young talent, Fonseca (ranked 53).

Quarterfinal matchups

Zverev faces Popelin, with a head-to-head record of 3-0. Hopefully, Zverev won't take Cerundolo's retirement too lightly and will continue to push forward.

Mitchellson faces Khachanov, with a head-to-head record of 1-0. In the third round of this year's Australian Open, Mitchellson defeated Khachanov with scores of 6-3/7-6(5)/6-2.
