WTA Montreal: Keys saves match point to overcome Muchova, Townsend defeats Swiatek

On August 3, 2025, the quarterfinal lineup for the WTA 1000 Montreal event was established.

The 6th seed Keys battled the 11th seed Muchova in a three-set match, eventually saving a match point to win 4-6/6-3/7-5 and returning to the quarterfinals after nine years. In the quarterfinals, Keys will face the 16th seed Townsend, who defeated the 2nd seed and recent Wimbledon champion Swiatek with a score of 7-6(1)/6-3.

Osaka Naomi

Svitolina

Osaka Naomi swept the Latvian veteran Sevastova with a score of 6-1/6-0 in just 49 minutes, marking her first entry into the WTA 1000 quarterfinals this year. Next, Osaka will compete against the 10th seed Svitolina for a spot in the semifinals, who eliminated the 5th seed Anisimova with a score of 6-4/6-1.
