Djokovic withdraws from Cincinnati again, Guo Hanyu and Yuan Yue enter the qualifiers.

On Monday local time, Djokovic confirmed his withdrawal from this year's Cincinnati Masters. His last appearance in Cincinnati was in 2023 when he saved match points to come back and defeat Alcaraz in the final. The Serbian star has been absent from competition since the Wimbledon semifinals, meaning he will "drop in" to this year's US Open without any warm-up for the second consecutive year (unless he takes a wildcard to participate in the Winston-Salem event the week before the US Open). However, he will team up with compatriot Danilovic for the mixed doubles event during this year's US Open qualifying week.

Djokovic won the title in Cincinnati in 2023.

The ATP/WTA 1000 Cincinnati event will kick off the qualifying rounds on Tuesday local time, with Chinese players Yuan Yue and Guo Hanyu participating. Sixth seed Yuan Yue will face Australian player Sharma in the first round, while Guo Hanyu's first-round opponent is 19th seed Todoni. Zhang Shuai is missing the Cincinnati qualifiers as she is still competing in the WTA 1000 Montreal women's doubles event, where she and Townsend have advanced to the semifinals.
