WTA Cincinnati: Wang Xinyu and Yuan Yue Start Strong

Yuan Yue lost in the final round of qualifying, but due to the withdrawals of the WTA 1000 Montreal tournament champions Mbogu and Naomi Osaka, four lucky losers competed in the first round. After drawing a lucky loser spot, Yuan Yue faced Bouchard, also a lucky loser, and seized this rare opportunity, winning in straight sets in just 77 minutes, marking her third consecutive victory over this opponent.

After the match, Yuan Yue said: "I’m very happy to win my first match at a WTA 1000 event this year and to achieve my first victory in Cincinnati. See you in the next match!" In the second round, Yuan Yue will challenge the tournament's 14th seed, Schneider. In their previous three encounters, Yuan Yue has maintained an unbeaten record, and this match is expected to take place at 3:30 AM Beijing time tomorrow on Court 4 as the final match of the day.

Zhu Lin

Zhu Lin faced Bronzetti in the first round, who was a key player in helping Italy win the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in 2024. In this match, Zhu Lin quickly found her rhythm, leading 4-1, but Bronzetti fought back to tie the score. In the tiebreak, Zhu Lin seized her third set point opportunity, narrowly winning 8-6.
