Impressive! Sinner is closing in on the Big Three's record of reaching the quarterfinals in eight consecutive Masters events!

No surprises here! In the round of 16 at the Cincinnati Masters, which concluded early this morning Beijing time, world number one and defending champion Sinner decisively defeated French veteran Mannarino, marking his ninth consecutive Masters quarterfinal appearance.

Sinner's nine Masters events started at the 2024 Indian Wells and continued through this week's Cincinnati, where he has reached at least the quarterfinals in all nine consecutive Masters he entered.

Of course, due to suspension this year, he missed the Indian Wells to Madrid Masters, including the Miami Masters where he won last year. Upon his return at the Rome Masters, he lived up to expectations by reaching the final for the first time; although he lost to Alcaraz and finished as the runner-up, it was clear that he maintained a good form.

After claiming his first Wimbledon title, Sinner chose to take a short break, causing him to miss the Canadian Masters where he won his first Masters title two years ago. Currently, he is competing at the Cincinnati Masters and is expected to continue at the Shanghai Masters if all goes well.

Currently, only the Big Three rank ahead of him on the record list for reaching the Masters quarterfinals consecutively.

Nadal: Reached the quarterfinals in 21 consecutive Masters events (2008 Hamburg - 2010 Cincinnati)

Who says Nadal has a specialty? In his peak years, he started on clay and finished on hard courts. Especially in the three major clay tournaments, he often achieved a clean sweep. Additionally, while he has never won the Miami, Shanghai, and Paris Masters in his career, his performance at the Canadian and Indian Wells Masters has been quite good.

Djokovic: Reached the quarterfinals in 15 consecutive Masters events (2011 Indian Wells - 2012 Shanghai)

Djokovic also began his stability in Masters events during his first peak year in 2011. Although his participation wasn't complete, his streak of reaching the quarterfinals spanned nearly two seasons.

Especially in 2011, he won multiple Masters titles, laying a solid foundation for achieving the only Golden Masters to date.

Federer: Reached the quarterfinals in 10 consecutive Masters events (2005 Indian Wells - 2006 Canada)

Federer's streak of reaching the quarterfinals is somewhat less impressive than his two older rivals. This is mainly because early in his career, he didn't have a significant advantage on clay, and the Masters finals at that time were still a best-of-five format, which carried a certain degree of randomness.

Now the world number one and hard court king, Sinner is naturally doing his utmost to earn honors in more major tournaments. Currently, there are still five Masters titles waiting for him to unlock! Although he has reached the quarterfinals in consecutive Masters, he has yet to achieve the feat of reaching the quarterfinals in all nine Masters events. Do you know which tournament he has not yet reached the quarterfinals in?(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Luo Cheng Qi Ye)
