ATP Winston-Salem Open: Bunyuan Zhao Kete narrowly defeated Zeng Junxin and will face Tsitsipas in the second round.

On August 18, Beijing time, the ATP 250 Winston-Salem Open commenced the men's singles first round. Chinese player Bunyuan Zhao Kete battled for 3 hours and 12 minutes against Zeng Junxin, ultimately winning 6-7(2)/6-3/7-6(4) to advance to the second round, where he will meet top seed Tsitsipas for their first encounter.

2016 tournament champion Pablo Carreno Busta swept Japanese player Yoshihito Nishioka 6-0/6-3 in just 58 minutes in the men's singles first round, advancing strongly to the second round, where he will face 10th seed and 2023 tournament champion Baez.


Last year, in a surprising second-round upset, Vande Zandschulp eliminated Alcaraz in straight sets and reversed a 2-6/7-5/6-3 deficit against Australian rising star Walton. Former ATP Next Generation Finals champion Medjedovic made a successful debut at Winston-Salem, defeating French player Lindeknecht 6-3/7-6(7). Medjedovic will face 15th seed, British player Finlay, in the second round.
