The Ninh Bình men's volleyball squad is strongly committed to the second stage of the 2025 National Championship aiming to qualify for the final round.
To strengthen their offense, the management of Ninh Bình men's volleyball team has decided to add Cuban foreign player Yaisel Punales, a spiker standing 1.92 meters tall with an attack jump reach of 3.60 meters.
Currently, this player has arrived in Ninh Bình and quickly integrated, training alongside teammates to prepare for crucial upcoming matches.
In the first phase, Ninh Bình finished in 5th place, a result below expectations. However, chances remain as the team will face Biên Phòng MB and Tây Ninh in the last two group stage matches of phase 2. If they achieve favorable results, coach Bùi Trung Thảo’s squad can break into the top 4 and secure a spot in the finals.
Previously, the ancient capital team recruited Thai foreign player Napadet Bhinijdee in phase 1. However, he did not return to Vietnam in October, forcing the coaching staff to seek a replacement and choose Punales.
In the past, Ninh Bình won the national championship in 2022. In 2024, the team placed 4th, demonstrating stability but still lacking the final edge to compete for the title.
The coaching staff did not disclose the transfer fee for Punales, stating only that they will focus fully on professional preparation to help the foreign player quickly adapt before the important matches in Ninh Bình from October 7 to 16.
