The second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship is expected to be fiercely contested with all 8 teams reinforcing their squads with foreign players.
All 8 men's volleyball teams participating in phase 2 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship have strengthened their rosters with foreign players, promising a heated battle in Ninh Binh from October 7 to 16.
Most notably, Hanoi team has hired a foreign player for the first time in its history, with outside hitter Kuon Mom (Cambodia) officially joining and quickly training with teammates. This decision shows the capital team’s ambition to avoid relegation despite financial challenges.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police team, currently leading the standings with 5 straight wins in phase 1, continues to rely on Polish spiker Michal Kubiak. This veteran star was a key factor in maintaining the police team’s top position. The coaching staff is also open to adding more foreign players before the tournament starts to boost strength.
Among the teams choosing Southeast Asian foreign players, The Cong Tan Cang has Indonesian Rivan Nurmulki, Bien Phong MB continues to trust Jakkrit Thanomnoi (Thailand), and Tay Ninh has added Anurak Phanram (Thailand). These players are familiar with regional play styles and easily integrate with teammates. Notably, Jakkrit played a major role in helping Bien Phong MB win the 2024 national championship and is expected to shine again.
Sanest Khanh Hoa, last season’s runner-up, relies on Argentine outside hitter Federico Pereyra to compensate for the lack of domestic players. Coach Ngo Van Kieu expressed hope that Pereyra will become a sharp attacking weapon to help the coastal team regain form.
Da Nang, currently in 4th place, also chose Indonesian foreign player Agil Anggara to strengthen their squad. Meanwhile, host Ninh Binh added Cuban outside hitter Yaisel Punales Mendieta. Coach Bui Trung Thao emphasized that foreign players only perform effectively when well coordinated with domestic teammates.
