The Vietnam women's volleyball team has officially received notification from FIVB regarding the 2027 Women's Volleyball World Championship.
The official website of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) recently announced that the 2027 Women's World Volleyball Championship will be co-hosted by the United States and Canada, while Qatar has been granted the rights to host the men's championship in 2029.
These decisions were ratified by the FIVB Board of Directors during a meeting on the sidelines of the 2025 Men's World Championship in the Philippines, following a highly competitive bidding process.
For the first time in history, the Volleyball World Championship will be held in the United States and Canada, setting the stage for a memorable volleyball celebration during the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
The Vietnam women's volleyball team is now informed about the hosts of the 2027 World Championship.
The final stages of the 2027 Women's Volleyball World Championship will be held at the Honda Center and OCVIBE in Anaheim, California, along with four other cities in the US and Canada (to be announced later) hosting the group and round of 16 matches.
FIVB President Fabio Azevedo said: "We are proud to confirm not just one, but three excellent hosts – the United States, Canada, and Qatar – for the upcoming Volleyball World Championships. With the US and Canada hosting the women's 2027 event and Qatar managing the men's 2029 tournament, we are confident these events will deliver unforgettable experiences for athletes, fans, and all stakeholders in the global volleyball movement. Bringing the World Championship to new regions is a vital step in growing this sport and spreading the values of cooperation, integration, peace, and unity on a global scale."
The FIVB Men's and Women's Volleyball World Championships are the biggest international volleyball competitions, each featuring 32 top teams worldwide competing in 64 matches over 17 days. Since 2023, the tournament format has been biennial.
The Vietnam women's volleyball team has earned a ticket to participate in the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship held in Thailand. This will be the first time coach Tuấn Kiệt and his players compete at this level.
To participate in the 2027 tournament, the Vietnam women's volleyball team must fulfill one of the following conditions: finish in the Top 3 at the 2026 Asian Championship or be among the 14 highest-ranked teams globally that have not yet qualified for the World Championship (meaning they are not in the Top 3 of their continental championship but hold a high position in the world rankings).
