The Ho Chi Minh City women's team successfully signed Cuban outside hitter Aidachi Attilah Aguero Aguilera right before the start of phase 2 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.
The Ho Chi Minh City women's volleyball team secured the addition of foreign player Aidachi Attilah Aguero Aguilera just prior to the commencement of phase 2 in the 2025 National Championship. This is considered a key reinforcement for the team’s fight to avoid relegation this season.
Coach Tran Hien stated that negotiations with Aguero Aguilera were only completed at noon on October 6, just before the technical meeting in the afternoon. “We just managed to finalize the transfer. The player will arrive in Ninh Binh in time to compete. This last-minute addition is very necessary for the team,” the coach shared.
Aidachi Attilah Aguero Aguilera is a Cuban outside hitter, standing 1.80m tall with an attacking jump reach of 3.04m. She has represented the Cuban women's national volleyball team in several international competitions and is regarded as highly experienced.
In phase 1, the Ho Chi Minh City women's team had also hired another Cuban player, Lianet García Anglada, but they were unable to extend her contract for phase 2. The addition of Aguero Aguilera is expected to bring fresh energy to the team’s offense, especially given their poor results in the previous round.
During phase 1, Ho Chi Minh City lost all five matches and ranked last in the women's group. In phase 2, the team will face two strong opponents, VTV Binh Dien Long An and LPBank Ninh Binh, in the remaining group matches. The main objective for Coach Tran Hien and his players is to secure their place in the league and avoid the end-of-season relegation playoffs.
The arrival of Aguero Aguilera also marks the first time this season that all teams participating in phase 2 have foreign players on their rosters. Just one day prior, Ho Chi Minh City was still the only team without a registered foreign player.
Phase 2 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will take place from October 7 to 16 at Ninh Binh Arena.
