Players Trần Thị Thanh Thúy and Trần Thị Bích Thủy will return to Vietnam in time to compete with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at SEA Games 33 in Thailand this year.
Head coach of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt, confirmed that the two key players Trần Thị Thanh Thúy and Trần Thị Bích Thủy will be back in the country to participate in SEA Games 33which will be held in Thailand this December.
Currently, Thanh Thúy is playing in Japan for the team Gunma Green Wings, while Bích Thủy has just finished her duty at the 2025 national championship with Hóa Chất Đức Giang Lào Cai and will soon head to Japan to join Okayama Seagulls. Both are key members of the national team.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will gather at the beginning of December to prepare for the SEA Games. The indoor volleyball event at the Games will take place in Bangkok (Thailand) from December 10 to 15, with a maximum roster of 14 athletes.
Two years ago, at SEA Games 32 in Cambodia, Thanh Thúy and Bích Thủy were part of the main squad, helping Vietnam secure the silver medal after losing 1-3 to Thailand in the final.
Since early 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has had a packed schedule, participating in numerous international tournaments such as the AVC Nations Cup, the VTV Cup, the SEA V.League, and the 2025 World Championship. These competitions serve as crucial preparation for their main goal – winning the gold medal at SEA Games 33.
Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt emphasized that having the strongest squad, especially the return of the two stars currently playing in Japan, will boost the team’s confidence to aim for a medal upgrade at this year’s Games.
