Shortly after FIVB announced Sao Paulo (Brazil) as the host city for the Women's Club Volleyball World Championship, VTV Bình Điền Long An unexpectedly requested to withdraw.
The 2025 Women's Club Volleyball World Championship will be held from December 8 to 14, 2025, in Sao Paulo (Brazil), featuring 8 top clubs from different continents, including two Asian teams: Zetysu VC, the 2025 AVC Champions League winner, and runner-up VTV Bình Điền Long An. However, according to Volleyball+ magazine, Long An is said to have sent an official letter to the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) notifying FIVB of their intention to withdraw from this prestigious tournament.
Although this information has not been officially confirmed by VFV or FIVB, it has caused a stir in the Vietnamese volleyball community. What is the reason behind this decision?
Firstly, the primary reason for VTV Bình Điền Long An’s possible withdrawal is the scheduling conflict with the 33rd SEA Games, which will take place in Thailand from December 9 to 20, 2025. The World Club Championship and SEA Games almost coincide, creating a significant challenge for the team.
