Trần Thị Thanh Thúy keeps delivering an excellent form playing for Gunma Green Wings in Japan’s national volleyball league.
Outside hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy was awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the 3-1 victory (25-21; 25-22; 17-25; 25-20) over PFU BlueCats this noon on 25/10 Vietnam time.
According to statistics on the official SV.League website (Japan’s national volleyball championship), Thanh Thúy scored 21 points, including 18 attack points, 1 block point, and 2 aces. She ranked as the second top scorer for Gunma Green Wings and in the entire match, just behind teammate Olivia Rozanski (22 points).
This marks Thanh Thúy’s best performance since her return to Japanese volleyball with Gunma Green Wings, made even more special as the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team captain achieved it against her former team.
PFU BlueCats is the foreign club where Thanh Thúy spent the longest time and achieved the most success in her career. They parted ways after the 2023-2024 season ended. Afterwards, 4T had less successful stints in Turkey and Indonesia before returning to Japan with a new team.
Although she sometimes did not receive the most favorable second-touch sets, Trần Thị Thanh Thúy still managed to demonstrate her skills with impressive height, smart play, and diverse scoring techniques from various positions on the court. Her defensive abilities and first-step reception are also highly regarded.
One factor that helped Thanh Thúy quickly adapt to her new club is that Gunma Green Wings includes many people who previously worked with her at PFU BlueCats: Coach Masayasu Sakamoto, captain Minami Takaso, etc. Hopefully, the 1997-born player will maintain this impressive form for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand this December.
