On October 24th, the Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Training, together with the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, officially established the national women's volleyball team with 20 players, gearing up for the 33rd SEA Games to be held in Thailand this coming December.
On October 24th, the Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Training, in partnership with the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, officially announced the national women's volleyball team comprising 20 players, preparing for the 33rd SEA Games set for Thailand in December.
This training camp marks a crucial phase in the journey toward upgrading the medal color, but it also notes some notable absences, including outside hitter Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền.
According to the list released by head coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt, the lineup includes familiar names such as Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, Nguyễn Thị Trinh, Đoàn Thị Lâm Oanh, Hoàng Thị Kiều Trinh, Vi Thị Như Quỳnh, Nguyễn Khánh Đang, Lê Thanh Thúy, Phạm Quỳnh Hương, Vi Thị Yến Nhi, Lưu Thị Huệ, Bùi Thị Ánh Thảo, Đặng Thị Kim Thanh, along with several young talents who have been performing impressively in the domestic league.
The entire team will begin training in Quảng Ninh from October 25th, with a plan to focus on technical skills, tactics, and physical conditioning for one month before departing for Thailand. Notably, this year's training program includes outdoor activities and venue changes to help players boost their morale and enthusiasm ahead of the intense competition phase.
Compared to the training camp earlier this year, the team roster has seen many changes as some familiar faces like Nguyễn Thị Phương, Đặng Thị Hồng, Lưu Thị Ly Ly, and Phạm Thị Hiền are no longer present. Among them, Bích Tuyền, the team's main scorer, withdrew from the team prior to the 2025 World Championship and also did not participate in the second phase of the recent National Championship.
Additionally, Đặng Thị Hồng is absent due to a disciplinary sanction from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, which disqualifies her from participating in national-level competitions.
It is expected that after completing the training phase in Quảng Ninh, coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt will reduce the roster to 14 official players before heading to Thailand for the 33rd SEA Games.
