The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will not take part in the Women's Club World Championship scheduled in Brazil from December 8 to 14.
On the evening of October 25, VTV Bình Điền Long An confirmed the team's official withdrawal from the 2025 Women's Volleyball Club World Championship, despite having secured a spot as the runner-up of the 2025 AVC Champions League.
According to the schedule set by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the tournament will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, from December 8 to 14, coinciding with SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
This is the main reason the team from the Mekong Delta decided to withdraw, as many key players are also members of the Vietnamese women's national volleyball team currently preparing for a historic gold medal campaign at the SEA Games.
In the official announcement, the club's management stated that head coach Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa along with five core players are included in the national team roster. The club prioritizes serving the national colors above all else.
"After discussions and receiving approval from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, the team decided not to compete in this year's world championship. This was a difficult but necessary decision, demonstrating the responsibility and professionalism of VTV Bình Điền Long An,"a team representative said.
The five players called up to the national team include Võ Thị Kim Thoa, Lê Như Anh, Đặng Thị Kim Thanh, Nguyễn Khánh Đang, along with coach Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa. Additionally, outside hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, currently playing in Japan, is expected to rejoin the national team in December. With such a core squad, it is inevitable that the club cannot field its strongest lineup for the world championship.
