Trần Thị Thanh Thúy regains her best form

Outside hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy is excelling as a key player for Gunma Green Wings in the 2025-2026 Japan Women's Volleyball Championship SV.League.

Outside hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy is shining in the Gunma Green Wings team at the Japan Women's Volleyball Championship SV.League, strengthening the hope of winning the gold medal for Vietnam women's volleyball at SEA Games 33.

After an injury earlier in 2024 and unsuccessful stints in Turkey and Indonesia, Thanh Thúy returned to Japan determined to reclaim her peak performance. Her hard work quickly paid off as the Gunma Green Wings coach trusted her with a starting position in all six opening matches, where she consistently made an impact as the main outside hitter.

In the 6th round on October 26, Thanh Thúy exploded with 23 points, playing a crucial role in Gunma Green Wings' comeback 3-2 victory over PFU Blue Cats. The day before, she also scored 21 points in a 3-1 win against the same opponent, earning her the Most Valuable Player award for the match.

Outside hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy is expected to join the national team in early December to compete at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.

Thanks to Thanh Thúy's consistent performance, Gunma Green Wings have climbed to 7th place out of 14 teams on the leaderboard.

Not only is Thanh Thúy powerful in attack, but she has also shown significant improvement in defense and tactical coordination, areas that were once considered her weaknesses.

Japanese experts highly praise the Vietnamese player for maintaining steady form, playing with great energy, and becoming increasingly well-rounded.

Thanh Thúy's impressive play in Japan is seen as good news for the Vietnam women's volleyball team, especially with SEA Games 33 in Thailand approaching. She and her teammates aim to secure a historic gold medal, something the Vietnamese women's team has yet to achieve despite reaching the finals multiple times.

With Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền absent, Thanh Thúy will continue to lead the offense and is the biggest hope for coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt. Although playing in Japan, the 28-year-old outside hitter has agreed to return to the national team in December, demonstrating her dedication and strong desire to represent Vietnam proudly.
