The 2026 National Volleyball Championship has officially finalized the list of 16 teams after the 2025 National A-Class competition ended.
On the evening of November 1st, after the 2025 National A-Class tournament concluded in Hà Tĩnh, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) officially announced the 16 teams eligible to compete in the 2026 National Championship, the highest level of volleyball in Vietnam.
Accordingly, the 8 women's teams include: VTV Bình Điền Long An (the defending champions), Ninh Bình, Thông tin - Đông Bắc, Công Thương Bank, Đức Giang Lào Cai Chemicals, Thanh Hóa, Hưng Yên, and Hà Nội (the 2025 A-Class champions).
In the men's category, Biên Phòng MB – the 2025 champions – will participate again alongside Thể Công Tân Cảng, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Ninh Bình, Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, Sanest Khánh Hòa, and Ho Chi Minh City (the 2025 A-Class champions).
Meanwhile, the women's team from Ho Chi Minh City and the men's team from Tây Ninh have officially been relegated after failing to remain in the 2025 National Championship. They will compete in the A-Class next season to seek a chance to return.
According to preliminary plans, the 2026 National Championship will retain the two-stage format (round 1 and round 2) similar to previous seasons. However, VFV and the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports are considering adjusting the schedule to better fit the 10th National Sports Festival in Ho Chi Minh City, where volleyball is a key sport.
It is likely that the first round of the 2026 championship will be held earlier than usual to avoid overlapping with the Sports Festival and to give teams ample time to prepare. The selection of hosting units for each round is also being carefully reviewed to ensure high competitive standards and suitable playing conditions.
The 2025 National A-Class tournament – which determines promotion teams – is also the final event in the national system this year. Immediately after its conclusion, VFV and the Department of Physical Education and Sports began planning the 2026 season schedule, aiming for a more professional, exciting, and high-quality new season.
