Trần Thị Bích Thủy is set to compete in Japan for the first time following her two previous stints overseas in Thailand and South Korea.
Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team player, Trần Thị Bích Thủy, will head to Japan to play starting tomorrow, November 4th.
Previously, Bích Thủy trained with the Okayama Seagulls, a team competing in Japan’s V.League Women’s Volleyball Championship, and was followed by teammates on Instagram. She has since been confirmed to join this club and will soon join the team after the second phase of the national volleyball championship concludes.
However, many expressed concerns about Bích Thủy’s move to Japan as the middle blocker from Ba Vì remained in Vietnam after the national championship, occasionally sharing posts about her pet cat and updating her social media profile picture. Nevertheless, club chairman Đào Hữu Huyền of HCĐG Lào Cai reassured fans by responding to a comment on Facebook with the message: "She will leave for Japan tomorrow.".
Okayama Seagulls marks the third foreign club in Trần Thị Bích Thủy’s career after Air Force (Thailand) and GS Caltex Seoul Kixx (South Korea). In both previous overseas experiences, Bích Thủy made a strong impression and continuously improved herself, currently ranking as one of the top middle blockers in Vietnamese women’s volleyball.
Notably, while playing for GS Caltex, Bích Thủy brought good fortune to the Seoul-based team, helping them transform dramatically in the latter half of the season and escape last place by the end of the regular season. It is highly likely that the 2000-born attacker will need to repeat this feat with Okayama Seagulls, who have lost all eight matches so far in the 2025-2026 V.League season.
If there are no unexpected changes, Trần Thị Bích Thủy is expected to make her debut for the new team in the match against Prestige Aranmare on November 8th. This will be a relegation final in the Japanese national championship between two teams that have lost all their games since the start of the season.
