Vietnam's men's and women's volleyball teams will have extra personnel assigned to gather and analyze competition data at SEA Games 33.
Both the men's and women's volleyball teams of Vietnam will be supplemented with dedicated staff responsible for collecting and analyzing match data at the upcoming SEA Games 33, held in December in Thailand. This is considered a significant advancement in the training and professional preparation of Vietnamese volleyball, aiming to align with modern coaching standards in the region.
According to information from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV), each men's and women's team will have a specialist assigned to handle data analysis throughout the competition. They will utilize specialized software to compile statistics, evaluate attacking and defensive effectiveness, first pass quality, serving, and other tactical parameters.
Previously, during the training and international competitions in early 2025, the national teams did not have a dedicated unit for this task. The lack of specific data made it difficult for the coaching staff to assess player performance, analyze opponents, or adjust strategies effectively.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet emphasized that analyzing data helps the coaching staff clearly identify the strengths and weaknesses of each position to develop appropriate adjustment plans.
Similarly, Coach Tran Dinh Tien of the men's team highly values the application of technology in coaching, considering it the right approach to improve competitive quality at the regional level.
Currently, the women's team is training in Quang Ninh, while the men's team is preparing in Bac Ninh. Both teams are fully focused on improving their results at SEA Games 33. The Vietnam Volleyball Federation stated that this time the teams will not train abroad but will continue their preparation domestically until departure for Thailand.
The women's team currently has 20 players, and the men's team has 18 athletes; both will reduce their rosters to 14 official players before the event. At SEA Games 32 in Cambodia, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the silver medal, while the men's team earned the bronze medal.
