With only a little more than a month left, the Vietnam women's volleyball team is preparing to take on the challenge of SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
In just over a month, the Vietnam women's volleyball team will begin their campaign at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. Currently, the entire squad is fully focused on professional preparation, aiming to perfect technical and tactical skills while stabilizing the performance of key players.
According to head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the team currently consists of 20 players, including many familiar faces who participated in international tournaments earlier this year, along with some newly added young talents.
“We are concentrating on refining our tactics and strengthening the cohesion among positions to build the most competitive lineup possible. SEA Games 33 will be fiercely contested, especially with host Thailand being the strongest rival in the region,” Coach Kiet shared.
During the preparation phase, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet has been personally monitoring domestic competitions to assess his players' form. Recently, he attended the national A-grade volleyball finals in Ha Tinh, where four team members — Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Pham Thi Anh Thao, Le Thuy Linh, and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh — played. This close observation of individuals demonstrates the coaching staff’s meticulous and careful approach to selecting the squad.
Currently, the team is training in Quang Ninh, maintaining a high intensity with specialized tactical and psychological exercises. Coach Kiet mentioned that the team will continue training domestically before moving to Thailand.
Additionally, the coaching staff plans to organize some outdoor training sessions to boost team spirit and reduce psychological pressure on the players.
Regarding the absence of key hitter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet acknowledged it as a significant loss but affirmed that the team has alternative plans: “Volleyball is a team sport; the combination of tactics and team spirit will determine the outcome. We have previously competed without Bich Tuyen at SEA Games 32, so the team can fully adapt.”
Earlier, during the training phase this year, the Vietnam women's team competed in five international tournaments including the AVC Nations Cup, VTV Cup, Shanghai Future Stars, World Championship, and SEA V.League 2025. These experiences helped players gain valuable experience, improve coordination, and build confidence ahead of the SEA Games.
The current list of 20 players called up for SEA Games 33 includes: Nguyen Khanh Dang, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Le Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Pham Quynh Huong, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Ha Kieu Vy, Doan Thi Xuan, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Dang Thi Kim Thanh, Le Nhu Anh, Hoang Hong Hanh, Luu Thi Hue, Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Le Thuy Linh, Le Thi Yen, and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh.
