She has just made history in Vietnamese women's volleyball with a special overseas move, joining one of the world's top 5 volleyball leagues.
The manager of HCĐG Lào Cai club, Đào Hữu Huyền, revealed that Bích Thủy departed for Japan to join the Okayama Seagulls on November 4th. She was supposed to join on October 23rd, but due to paperwork delays, she could only travel on November 4th.
With Bích Thủy's skill level, she is fully capable of performing well in the Japanese V.League. However, volleyball is a team sport, so her effectiveness depends greatly on her teammates.
Okayama Seagulls have not won any matches this season and currently rank second to last in the Japanese V.League. Bích Thủy is the sole foreign player on the team. Can she help improve their situation?
Bích Thủy is currently the best middle blocker in Vietnamese women's volleyball.
With this overseas move, Bích Thủy officially makes history as the first specialized middle blocker from Vietnam to play in the Japanese V.League.
Previously, Trần Thị Thanh Thúy played several seasons in Japan and is currently competing in the Japanese V.League for Gunma Green Wings. Thanh Thúy mainly played as a middle blocker when she was with PFU Blue Cats, but she is originally an outside hitter, not a specialized middle blocker like Bích Thủy.
Bích Thủy also becomes the first Vietnamese female middle blocker to play in three international volleyball leagues. Before, she competed in the Thai V.League for Air Force and in the Korean V.League for GS Caltex.
In 2018, at just 18 years old, Bích Thủy was given the chance to play in Thailand for Air Force in the Thai V.League.
Living up to expectations, Bích Thủy scored a total of 147 points, ranking among the top 6 scorers in the league and winning the "Best Middle Blocker of the Thai League" award for the 2018-2019 season.
Additionally, she ranked second in the Thai League for best blockers that season with 42 successful blocks, just one block behind the legendary Pleumjit Thinkaow.
In the 2024-2025 Korean V.League season, Bích Thủy played about two months for GS Caltex and, despite limited sets, managed to capitalize on her few chances to prove her class. She was twice selected in the best lineup of the rounds in the Korean V.League last season.

Regular players earn around 3.6 million yen per year (over 662 million VND), while professionals with more than 8 years of experience average 4.4 million yen per year (equivalent to over 800 million VND).
Although the exact salary at Okayama Seagulls has not been revealed, Japanese media report that player pay depends on position, experience, and club reputation. Prominent players who attract media attention usually earn higher than average salaries.
