Overcoming career setbacks, Trần Thị Thanh Thúy's junior shines and receives a great honor at the age of 21

Volleyball athlete Nguyễn Thị Trà My received a significant honor at 21 while representing Bình Điền Sports Company at the Trade Union Congress of Bình Điền Fertilizer Joint Stock Company.

Nguyễn Thị Trà My, regarded as a "raw gem" of Vietnamese women's volleyball, is gradually establishing herself despite enduring a challenging year due to injury. Recently, she appeared radiant at the Trade Union Congress of Bình Điền Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, where she represented Bình Điền Sports Company (VTV Bình Điền Long An). This positive presence offers hope for a strong return of the 2004-born outside hitter in the next season.

Trà My started her volleyball career at age 14 and quickly made an impression with her 1.81-meter height, remarkable jumping power, and a playing style that is both powerful and smart.

The year 2024 marked a memorable milestone when she and the VTV Bình Điền Long An club won the National Women's Volleyball Championship, becoming a "phenomenon" at age 20. She is also the only left-handed volleyball player in Vietnam — a factor that allows Trà My to deliver unexpected left-side spikes that surprise her opponents.

Selected by coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt for the national team in 2024, Trà My quickly adapted and helped secure the bronze medal at the FIVB Challenger Cup — a historic achievement that boosted the Vietnamese women's team to 32nd place worldwide.

However, earlier this year, Trà My suffered a knee injury, requiring her to pause competition for a period. Later, she was listed on VTV Bình Điền Long An’s roster for the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship. In this phase, VTV Bình Điền Long An impressively claimed the championship by defeating Ninh Bình Club 3-2.

With her determined spirit and proven talent, Trà My is expected to follow in the footsteps of seniors like Ngọc Hoa and Trần Thị Thanh Thúy to become a new star in Vietnamese volleyball.
