Volleyball website Volleyvox from Thailand stated that due to a collision with Trần Thị Thanh Thúy during a jump block, Hattaya Bamrungsuk was injured and had to leave the court immediately. On the Starvolley4 forum, many Thai fans expressed dissatisfaction about this incident.

However, there is no clear footage of the collision incident. Many Vietnamese volleyball fans defended Trần Thị Thanh Thúy. In fact, this was an accidental contact, which commonly happens in volleyball when two players contest near the net. The Thai Facebook user Phupha C Ool also acknowledged it was just an accident.
