Both Vietnam and Thailand formed a high-caliber contest in the SEA Games 33 final, where the host nation won.
On the evening of December 15, the final match of the women's volleyball event at SEA Games 33 concluded with a thrilling 3-2 victory for Thailand over Vietnam. The home women's volleyball team has yet to secure their first gold after reaching the final match 12 times in the history of the games.
However, this was the first time Vietnam pushed Thailand to a 5th set in SEA Games history, and Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt's team made the hosts sweat. The brave performance of the Vietnamese girls impressed Thai volleyball fans, with many praising Trần Thị Thanh Thúy and Trần Thị Bích Thủy.
"I witnessed firsthand on the court, 4T hits the ball very powerfully. The attacks beyond the 3-meter line were also very effective."
"Bích Thủy is really formidable. Her attacking and blocking are outstanding."
"Vietnamese volleyball is continuously improving. It's great to see more strong teams emerging in Asia."
"Number 25(Bích Thủy), she is truly excellent."
"That spike, that smile from Thúy, full of energy."
"And your tomboy too(referring to Lê Như Anh). She plays very well as well."
Trần Thị Thanh Thúy continued to show her leadership role, being a pillar for her teammates in crucial matches. Fully recovered from injury and with Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền absent, the 1997-born main attacker became a reliable target for passes, scoring valuable points.
Although she received special care and had tense moments mentally, this was still a perfect 10 match for "4T".
For Trần Thị Bích Thủy, after training in South Korea in early 2025, she showed clear improvement, especially in blocking. Besides Thanh Thúy, Bích Thủy was also fully trusted by teammates in the 5th set with quick attacks from position 3.
With a Thanh Thúy at the peak of her career and the steadily progressing Bích Thủy, Như Anh, Vi Thị Như Quỳnh, Bùi Thị Ánh Thảo, etc., the future of the national women's volleyball is very bright.
