Chatchu-on Moksri took over as the new captain of Thailand’s women's volleyball team from SEA Games 33 and quickly showed her impact.
Thailand women's volleyball captain Chatchu-on Moksri praised Vietnam after the host's 3-2 victory in the SEA Games 33 final on the evening of December 15.
"Vietnam has progressed very fast. We used to dominate them easily, but now they play much better. I believe Thailand needs to change, set clear goals, and implement processes to improve further.", Chatchu-on told Thai media, as reported by ThaiRath.
In the highly anticipated SEA Games 33 final, both Vietnam and Thailand delivered outstanding performances. Vietnam took the early lead 1-0 thanks to Trần Thị Thanh Thúy and Vi Thị Như Quỳnh, but Thailand responded strongly by winning the next two sets, taking a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth set, Thailand started better again, but the appearance of Lê Như Anh unsettled the hosts, who then lost the set and had to decide the match in the fifth set. Both teams fought intensely with many championship-point chances, but Thailand capitalized on a crafty direct point serve from Pimpichaya Kokram.
In this match, Chatchu-on scored 16 points. While not the top scorer, she made a significant contribution to the thrilling 5-set victory over Vietnam. Taking over as Thailand’s captain from Ajcharaporn Kongyot before SEA Games 2025, "Dragonfly" immediately showed her leadership.
"I don’t feel pressured being captain, but I am disappointed in myself because the people I care about watched the match and I didn’t perform well. That’s why I felt sad and cried on the court.", Chatchu-on shared after the final."As captain, I want to use my voice as much as possible. I want to energize the whole team. When off the court, I cheered for my teammates with all my heart."
