Surpassing Nguyễn Đình Bắc, outside hitter Thanh Thúy receives a prestigious award

This marks the second time the captain of Vietnam's women's volleyball team has earned this accolade.

Outperforming many prominent Vietnamese athletes such as Nguyễn Đình Bắc (football), Nguyễn Thị Oanh (athletics), and Nguyễn Huy Hoàng (swimming), outside hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy officially won the "Most Popular Athlete" category at the 2025 Victory Cup.

This is the second occasion Thanh Thúy has been named in this highly public-voted category of the Victory Cup, as the award's results rely entirely on fan votes through an online system. With a large fan base, the player born in 1997 was honored once again after her first win at the 2023 Victory Cup.

In 2025, Trần Thị Thanh Thúy made her mark not only in domestic competitions but also achieved significant recognition on the international stage. At the club level, she participated with VTV Bình Điền Long An in the AVC Champions League in the Philippines in April, helping the reigning national champions secure the runner-up position in Asia, thereby earning a spot in the world championship.

During her second overseas stint in Japan, Thanh Thúy continued to demonstrate impressive scoring ability while playing for Gunma Green Wings. According to statistics for the 2025-2026 season, she has already scored over 300 points and remains a key player for Gunma, while ranking among the top 15 highest scorers in the SV.League.

At the national team level, Thanh Thúy remains the leader both in skill and spirit for Vietnam's women's volleyball team. Not only does she possess a solid technical foundation, diverse attacking skills, and resilient defense, but she also serves as a leader during critical moments—qualities that create a unique impression and earn special affection from fans.

The "Most Popular Athlete" title at the 2025 Victory Cup thus not only recognizes her achievements but also clearly demonstrates Trần Thị Thanh Thúy's influence as one of the prominent representatives of Vietnamese sports today.
