Continuing with strong investments from Ho Chi Minh City Police for the 2026 Vietnam Volleyball season.
National team player Duong Van Tien has officially parted ways with Sanest Khanh Hoa following the conclusion of the 2025 season, ending his time with the coastal team and opening a new chapter in his playing career.
During the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, Duong Van Tien served as the captain of Sanest Khanh Hoa. Despite a severely weakened squad, with only Van Tien, Huynh Trung Truc, and Nguyen Phuc Loc remaining, coach Ngo Van Kieu's team still achieved their goal of avoiding relegation.
Entering the 2026 season, the outside hitter born in 1998 chose a new professional path and decided not to renew his contract with his former club. The handsome spiker has agreed to join the Ho Chi Minh City Police men's volleyball team as a new recruit, preparing to compete in this year's National Championship. This move is seen as a significant step to help him maintain his performance in an environment with clearer ambitions and investment.
Duong Van Tien has long been regarded as one of the most well-rounded outside hitters in Vietnamese men's volleyball. Not only does he possess diverse attacking skills, but he also demonstrates experience, composure, and effective defensive support. Internationally, he has participated in several consecutive SEA Games from SEA Games 30 to SEA Games 33, making a mark with a silver medal at SEA Games 31 on home soil and a bronze at SEA Games 32 in Cambodia.
At SEA Games 33 held in Thailand last December, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team finished 4th overall, with Van Tien being one of the standout performers.
Regarding Sanest Khanh Hoa, once one of the strongest teams nationwide, they have faced difficulties with both personnel and funding after the 2024 season. The departure of many key players has caused the club to lose its previous competitive edge.
Duong Van Tien is one of three new signings for Ho Chi Minh City Police this year. Previously, the police team officially welcomed Nguyen Van Quoc Duy—who played for the club on loan during the 2025 season—along with Nguyen Phuc Loc, Van Tien’s teammate from Sanest Khanh Hoa.
