Vietnam men's volleyball is expected to have a foreign coach replacing Mr. Trần Đình Tiền

This is anticipated to be an important catalyst for Vietnam men's volleyball to target good outcomes in Asian and regional tournaments in the near future.

According to the latest information from SGGP, the VFV (Vietnam Volleyball Federation) is considering changing the coaching staff after unsatisfactory results over the past two years.

A VFV representative stated that the priority is still to find a suitable domestic coach to continue the technical work. However, VFV does not rule out the possibility of hiring a foreign expert to lead the team in the coming years.

The last time VFV hired a foreign coach for the men's team was during 2021-2022, led by Li Huanning. He helped the men's team win the silver medal at the SEA Games 31 held at home in 2022.

Since that event, Coach Trần Đình Tiền has been entrusted with leading the Vietnam men's volleyball team. During his tenure, he has guided the players through many important tournaments such as the SEA Games, AVC Cup (previously AVC Challenge Cup and AVC Nations Cup), and SEA V.League. Under the leadership of the Biên Phòng captain, the men's team won bronze at SEA Games 32 in Cambodia and finished 4th overall at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.

Entering 2026, the Vietnam men's volleyball team plans to participate in three major international tasks including the AVC Champions League 2026 (as a club), SEA V.League 2026, and ASIAD 20. However, the chances for Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân and teammates to qualify for ASIAD are slim.

VFV has not made a final decision yet. The federation has about three months to complete the coaching staff recruitment, after the conclusion of the first phase of the 2026 National Championship held in Đông Anh.
