One of the most unforgettable highlights in the career of this 1.95-meter tall attacker.
Lý Thị Luyến concluded her journey at the Mongolian National Women's Volleyball Championship for the 2025-2026 season by helping Hobby Ace secure the runner-up position.
Unlike many other volleyball tournaments, the Mongolian National Championship final is played in a best-of-seven series, where the first team to win four matches becomes the champion. This format is similar to American sports leagues such as the NBA (basketball) or the NHL (ice hockey).
The opponent of Lý Thị Luyến and her Hobby Ace teammates in the championship match was Mintonette Gobi, a very young club established in 2024 but quickly achieving success.
Facing a team with a superior lineup, Hobby Ace encountered numerous challenges. They lost the first two matches of the series, then fought hard to narrow the series score to 2-3.
Entering the sixth match on February 7 with the goal of winning to keep their championship hopes alive, Lý Thị Luyến and her teammates did not perform well. The team suffered a swift 0-3 defeat (19-25; 13-25; 11-25), reluctantly watching Mintonette Gobi claim their first-ever club championship.
For Hobby Ace, this was their first finals appearance since the 2021-2022 season. Finishing as runner-up this year can be considered a success for Lý Thị Luyến and her teammates.
During the regular season and the playoff series competing for the championship, Lý Luyến consistently made a strong impression. The tallest middle blocker in Vietnamese women's volleyball (1.95m) skillfully used her height advantage to strengthen Hobby Ace’s blocking, helping the team reach the final match of the tournament.
After completing her first overseas stint, Lý Thị Luyến will return home and then train with her main club HCĐG Lào Cai in preparation for the first phase of the 2026 National Championship starting in April in Đông Anh, Hanoi.
