Unable to pull off a surprise on Thai soil, VTV Binh Dien Long An misses out on the Asian berth.

VTV Binh Dien Long An failed to spring a surprise on the road against Supreme Chonburi, thus forfeiting the single Southeast Asian spot for the 2026 AVC Champions League and formally ending their reign as the Asian Club Cup silver medalists.

VTV Binh Dien Long An fails to shock Supreme Chonburi

Competing in the frenzied atmosphere of the opponent's home court, the Long An girls started with a fierce and energetic spirit. In the first set, the team in yellow found themselves trailing by a significant margin at one point, but through persistent chasing, they leveled the gap and even took the lead at crucial moments. Unfortunately, issues in their first-pass reception caused the Vietnamese representative to lose their advantage late in the set, allowing the opponent to close it out with a narrow 25-23 victory.

Entering the second set, the pupils of coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa impressed by scoring the first three consecutive points, showing positive adjustments in both tactics and mentality. However, Supreme Chonburi quickly responded with a fast-paced style of play, organized a tight block, and effectively exploited VTV Binh Dien Long An's suboptimal first-ball situations. The point gap gradually widened, and the Vietnamese representative accepted a 16-25 defeat, falling into a 0-2 deficit.

Long An fought hard in the 3rd set...

With their backs against the wall, VTV Binh Dien Long An surged back powerfully in the third set. A nail-bitingly close contest was maintained for most of the period, as the two teams continuously traded blows. Kim Thanh, Lan Vy, and Bao Ngoc took turns shining, maintaining the offensive rhythm and creating advantages in key rallies. When facing match-point, composure and tenacity helped the Vietnamese team turn the tables, securing a dramatic 28-26 victory after an emotionally charged scoring run, rekindling hopes of a comeback.

Nevertheless, the psychological boost was insufficient for VTV Binh Dien Long An to sustain their momentum in the fourth set. Supreme Chonburi demonstrated high professional quality with a squad of young yet experienced domestic and international athletes, executing a coherent and effective game plan. The home team quickly built a large lead, forcing the Vietnamese representative into a chasing position. Final efforts only allowed Long An to reach the 19-point mark before concluding the set with a 19-25 loss.

...But still suffered a 1-3 defeat

In the end, Supreme Chonburi secured a 3-1 victory (25-23, 25-16, 26-28, 25-19) to claim the ticket to the 2026 AVC Champions League. Although unable to defend their runner-up position, VTV Binh Dien Long An still left a positive impression with their wholehearted fighting spirit, passionate play, and desire to contribute for the honor of their nation. The two teams together delivered a thrilling, emotion-filled contest, contributing to elevating the quality and appeal of women's volleyball in the region.
