The first overseas trip of Vi Thi Nhu Quynh is truly challenging.
On the evening of February 27, Vietnam time, national volleyball player Vi Thi Nhu Quynh will have her final match wearing the Medan Falcons in the 2026 Indonesian National Championship (Proliga), against Jakarta Popsivo Polwan.
Although the Indonesian National Championship still has playoff matches for the championship, Nhu Quynh and her Medan Falcons teammates certainly have no chance of making it into this group due to their very poor performance throughout the season. The attacker from Nghe An is facing the risk of creating an unwanted sad record in her first overseas career.
Throughout her career, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh has never played for a club that lost all matches in a season. This could change as Medan Falcons have currently lost 11 out of 12 matches in this year's Proliga and will face a Jakarta Popsivo Polwan that desperately needs points to reach the top 4.
Medan Falcons (formerly known as Yogya Falcons) is considered the weakest club in Indonesia. Last year, the "Falcons" also lost all their matches in the season, and despite significant changes and investments: relocating their headquarters from Yogyakarta to Medan, recruiting Southeast Asian foreign players: Nhu Quynh along with Dell Palomata (Philippines), currently having three national team players and being coached by the head coach of the Indonesian national team - Mr. Marcos Sugiyama, the situation has not improved much for this team.
After 11 matches in this year's Indonesian National Championship, Medan Falcons have lost all, securing only 4 winning sets and a single point. The gap between Vi Quynh and her teammates and the second-to-last opponent - Bandung BJB is as high as 12 points.
Since there is no promotion-relegation system, Medan Falcons can still safely continue competing in the Proliga next season, but this club needs more decisive investments to hope for higher positions.
For Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, the early end of the Indonesian National Championship season allows the player from Tuong Duong, Nghe An to return to Vietnam early, joining the new team Hanoi Tasco Auto to prepare for the first phase of the National Championship held in Dong Anh, Hanoi in April.
