Nearly 20 Iranian female volleyball players were killed following an airstrike on a sports arena.

Around 20 female volleyball players were killed at a sports facility when Iran came under attack.

On February 28, about 20 volleyball athletes were killed in an attack targeting a sports stadium in Lamerd city, southern Iran, according to Modern and RT Arabic.

Meanwhile, the Iranian television channel Al Mayadeen reported on February 28 that an airstrike on a sports arena in southern Iran resulted in the deaths of 20 female volleyball players.

Initial reports indicate a total of four missiles struck Fars province, where Lamerd city is located. Approximately 100 people are believed to have been injured in the incident. Ali Alizadeh, the chief executive of Lamerd city in Iran's Fars province, stated that "at least 15 people were killed" in the attack conducted by Israel and the U.S. on a sports hall and two residential buildings in the city.

Mr. Alizadeh emphasized that "at least 15 people were killed" and expressed concern that the death toll could rise further. The official also noted that a significant number of Iranian citizens were wounded in the assault.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society also reported that over 200 people were killed and 747 injured across 24 provinces due to the attacks, and these numbers may continue to increase as military operations persist.

On February 28, the United States and Israel conducted a series of airstrikes against targets in Iran, including the capital Tehran. Iran subsequently carried out retaliatory missile attacks targeting Israeli territory as well as U.S. military facilities in the Middle East.
