The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is about to activate a 'blockbuster' from a top-6 global volleyball nation.

A 22-year-old, 1.94m tall spiker is set to join Vietnam's most successful women's volleyball team, ready to compete in a major tournament.

According to SGGP newspaper, the Information Corps women's volleyball team is very close to finalizing a deal to recruit Chinese opposite hitter Wenhan Che to strengthen their squad for the 2026 season.

If the final procedures are approved, this 1.94m tall spiker is expected to arrive in Vietnam around mid-March to join the military team, beginning training and integration with teammates before competing in Round 1 of the 2026 National Volleyball Club Championship.

Wenhan Che is considered one of the notable young talents in Chinese women's volleyball. Possessing an impressive height of 1.94m and an attacking reach of up to 3.11m, the 2004-born spiker has a clear advantage in wing attacks and net pressure. She currently plays for Shandong Rizhao Steel, a traditional club in the Chinese national league.

If the deal is completed, Wenhan Che's addition is expected to provide a high-quality attacking option for Information Corps in the opposite hitter position.

Although the military team currently has several opposite hitters like Nguyen Huynh Phuong Thuy, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Pham Thi Nguyet Anh, and Pham Quynh Huong, the coaching staff still desires a standout spiker with strong physique and scoring ability to enhance the squad's competitiveness.

Reportedly, Wenhan Che has had initial discussions with the Vietnamese club and expressed readiness for the new challenge in the domestic league. At 22, this opposite hitter still has significant development potential and could bring a new dynamism to Information Corps' gameplay.

Last season, Information Corps finished third in the National Championship. During that campaign, they used foreign player Andrea Mitrovic (Canada) in Round 1 and later replaced her with Irina Voronkova (Russia) in Round 2.

For the 2026 season, the military team's goal remains to maintain its leading position and strive for a top-3 finish. Round 1 of the 2026 National Volleyball Club Championship is scheduled from April 6th to 19th in Dong Anh (Hanoi), promising to be a stage for teams to showcase their ambitions early in the season.

With the potential successful recruitment of Wenhan Che, Information Corps is expected to significantly boost its offensive power in the competition against the league's strong opponents.
