Information - Northeast successfully recruits Chinese volleyball 'giant'

This marks the second Chinese foreign player in this year's National Women's Volleyball Championship, after Cai Xiaoqing (XMLS Thanh Hoa).

The Information - Northeast women's volleyball team has officially "secured" its foreign player for Phase 1 of the 2026 National Championship, to be held in Dong Anh, Hanoi this April.

Accordingly, the military-backed team has successfully recruited Chinese spiker Che Wenhan. Born in 2000, this player is an opposite hitter with a very impressive height of 1.94m, a spike touch of 3.11m, a block touch of 3.00m, and is right-handed. She is a member of the Shandong provincial volleyball team, having played for the club in two periods: 2017-2019 and 2021-present.

Che played for Sichuan in the interim period. In early 2023, the 25-year-old spiker went abroad for the first time, playing on loan for Supreme Chonburi in the Thai National Championship.

At the national team level, Che Wenhan is a familiar face in youth tournaments and also participated with the Chinese women's national team in the 2018 AVC Cup, which they won. That year's "Land of a Billion" squad included other familiar faces such as Chen Peiyan - a foreign player who made a strong impression at VTV Binh Dien Long An, and Liu Yanhan - who previously played for XMLS Thanh Hoa.

This will be a notable addition to the offensive line of Information - Northeast for the upcoming season. Currently, the military team also possesses very watchable opposite hitters like Pham Thi Nguyet Anh, volleyball beauty Nguyen Thi Phuong, young talent Pham Quynh Huong, and the "hammer" Nguyen Huynh Phuong Thuy.

In the 2025 season, Information - Northeast brought in two high-quality foreign players: Andrea Mitrovic - a Canadian national team player (Phase 1) and the Russian star - Irina Voronkova (Phase 2), who contributed significantly to the team winning the overall bronze medal.

Che Wenhan joining the military team highlights the trend of Vietnamese clubs utilizing Chinese foreign players, given certain compatibilities in culture, cuisine, climate, etc. Previously, players like Cai Xiaoqing, Chen Peiyan, Liu Yanhan, Jin Ye, etc., have all left a strong impression, among whom Cai Xiaoqing will make a comeback in the colors of XMLS Thanh Hoa in Phase 1 of this year's National Championship.
