How has Vietnam's top female volleyball opposite hitter performed excellently in the world's top 5 volleyball scene?

As of the latest update, Tran Thi Bich Thuy has only played 18 matches for Club Okayama Seagulls, which is just half the number of matches played by most other clubs' players (34 matches). Despite this limited playtime and it being her first season in the Japanese National Championship, Bich Thuy quickly "found her rhythm," playing with confidence and maintaining a consistently high and stable performance level.

The statistics do not lie. After 18 matches played, Bich Thuy has scored a total of 169 points, averaging nearly 9.4 points per match. This is an exceptionally good scoring average for an opposite hitter. Bich Thuy is the player with the highest performance efficiency at Okayama Seagulls and the team's most effective opposite hitter.

Of the 169 points Bich Thuy has scored, 120 are from attacks and 43 are from blocks. Regarding her current blocking efficiency, the star of the Vietnamese women's national team ranks only behind three players: Butler (USA), Maki (Japan), and Todorova (Bulgaria).

It is worth remembering that blocking was once Bich Thuy's weakness. Precisely because of her slow and reluctant blocking, she was excluded from the National Team by Coach Tuan Kiet in 2024. However, after just two months of "training" in South Korea in early 2025, Bich Thuy transformed into a completely different blocking player compared to her former self. Now, Bich Thuy closes blocks quickly, diligently blocks, and makes opponents wary when facing her at the net.

While Bich Thuy's blocking ability has improved tremendously, her attacking prowess remains as formidable as ever. She still delivers lightning-fast spikes from the number 3 position and high-quality back-row attacks. After the Thai National Championship and the Korean National Championship, the Japanese National Volleyball Championship is the latest springboard propelling the current number one opposite hitter of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to new heights.
