This is one of the important tournaments for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team across seasons.
Recently, the SEA V.League organizing committee (the volleyball tournament for top national teams in Southeast Asia) announced the schedule and host locations for the two stages of the 2026 season.
In the women's category, Stage 1 of the 2026 SEA V.League will be held in Vietnam from July 31 to August 2. Meanwhile, Stage 2 will take place in Thailand from August 7 to August 9. The women's category will still feature the familiar four participating teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia.
Since 2023, Vietnam has been the host of at least one stage in the SEA V.League, with venues being the Vinh Phuc Gymnasium (Phu Tho) and the Ninh Binh Gymnasium. At the ancient capital last year—hosting Stage 2 of the SEA V.League—the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, with the outstanding performance of Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, achieved the first-ever historic victory over Thailand, thereby winning the championship of a stage in this tournament for the first time.
This will also be a key goal for the national women's volleyball team in 2026, alongside the AVC Cup (formerly: AVC Challenge Cup, AVC Nations Cup), the Asian Championship, and especially the 20th ASIAD held in Aichi-Nagoya (Japan).
For the men's category, Stage 1 of this year's SEA V.League will be held in the Philippines from July 15 to July 19. Indonesia will host Stage 2 from July 22 to July 26. Up to six teams will participate this year: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, and newcomer Myanmar.
In Stage 2 of last year's SEA V.League, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team won the silver medal—the second time in history—with victories over Cambodia, Thailand, and Philippines.
This will be the focal tournament for coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team this season, as they do not have slots for the AVC Cup and the Asian Championship. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates will compete in the AVC Champions League as a club replacing Border Guard—the national champion, while the possibility of participating in the 20th ASIAD remains open.
