The Vietnamese volleyball team recruits a Thai star with a 3.30m attack jump height, ready to defend the championship in the 2026 season.

MB Border Guard men's volleyball team continues to retain the service of young Thai attacker Jakkrit Thanomnoi for the 2026 season.

This attacker has agreed to return to Vietnam to compete in Phase 1 of the National Volleyball Championship. This information was confirmed by the coaching staff of the military team.

According to the coaching staff, Jakkrit Thanomnoi is no longer unfamiliar to the MB Border Guard team. After several seasons playing together, the Thai player has fully integrated into the team's overall playing style.

Not only does he understand the tactical philosophy of the coaching staff, Jakkrit has also developed significant synergy with his domestic teammates in on-court coordination. This familiarity and adaptability have led the coaching staff to continue trusting the 2003-born attacker for the new season.

According to reports, Jakkrit Thanomnoi is almost certain to be in Vietnam soon to join MB Border Guard in the 2026 Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup, a tournament scheduled to start on March 18 in Ninh Binh. This is considered an important preparatory step before teams enter the official competition phase of the national championship.

In fact, Jakkrit has been with MB Border Guard for three consecutive recent seasons. Under the guidance of coach Tran Dinh Tien, the Thai attacker gradually became a familiar component in the lineup of the reigning champion.

In the 2025 season, he played fully in both phases of the national championship and contributed significantly to MB Border Guard's successful defense of the title.

Although not possessing outstanding height at only about 1.85m, Jakkrit Thanomnoi is highly rated for his stable and effective performance in first-step defense. His solid play, flexible movement, and enthusiasm make this young attacker a suitable choice for coach Tran Dinh Tien's tactics.

MB Border Guard possesses a high-quality domestic player squad, the core of the Vietnamese national team.

Before returning to Vietnam, Jakkrit just participated in the Thai national volleyball championship. This attacker was once called up to the Thai national team, thereby accumulating more experience in top-level competition. With a good professional foundation and familiarity with the Vietnamese competition environment, Jakkrit is expected to continue making important contributions to MB Border Guard.

The 2026 season also marks the fourth consecutive year Jakkrit Thanomnoi plays in Vietnam wearing the military team jersey. During his time with MB Border Guard, he has helped the team achieve many notable successes.

Most prominent are two consecutive national championships in 2024 and 2025. Additionally, MB Border Guard also won the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup twice in 2024 and 2025, along with three consecutive Hung Vuong Cup titles from 2023 to 2025.

Regarding professional statistics, Jakkrit Thanomnoi possesses a block jump height of 3.10m and an attack jump height of 3.30m, quite impressive figures for a young attacker. Thanks to good jumping ability and agile movement, he still creates significant effectiveness in wing attacks and defensive support.

Unlike many other teams that often seek big-name foreign players, MB Border Guard remains loyal to the philosophy of building a collective based on the cohesion of domestic forces. The military team has many quality and balanced players, so choosing familiar foreign players who fit the tactical system is considered a reasonable approach.

For the 2026 season, despite being the reigning champion, MB Border Guard's coaching staff still sets cautious goals, initially striving to be among the top four teams in the national club championship. According to the coaching staff, competition in the tournament is increasingly fierce, so the team needs thorough preparation both professionally and psychologically.

Currently, MB Border Guard has concluded early-year local tournaments and moved to Ninh Binh for training, preparing for the upcoming important tournament series.

The team's lineup still maintains many key players such as Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Pham Van Hiep, Tran Duy Tuyen, Truong The Khai, Dinh Van Duy, and Vu Anh Tuan. With a stable force and the return of familiar foreign player Jakkrit Thanomnoi, MB Border Guard is expected to continue being one of the formidable contenders in this season's championship race.
