The VTV9-Binh Dien Cup 2026 promises to be exciting with the participation of high-quality clubs.
The Jiangsu Zenith Steel women's volleyball team will be one of three international guests at the VTV9-Binh Dien Cup 2026 held in Tay Ninh from May 15th to May 23rd.
Jiangsu is a team with a very rich record in the Chinese Volleyball League (CVL). The team has won the championship twice, finished second seven times, and won third place five times in the national league, while also achieving excellent results in the National Cup and the Chinese Sports Games.
The team is currently the reigning runner-up of the CVL, losing to Shanghai Bright Ubest with a total score of 2-1 in the championship series. The club possesses some notable names from the volleyball "Land of a Billion": Gong Xiangyu, Wu Mengjie, etc., but the likelihood of these stars coming to Vietnam to compete is low due to their commitments with the national team.
Jiangsu is a familiar guest of the VTV9-Binh Dien Cup, having won the tournament in 2012 (defeating the host VTV Binh Dien Long An) and 2018 (defeating Bring It Promissions), alongside a silver medal in 2016 (lost to VietinBank) and a bronze medal in 2011. Additionally, the team also participated in the VTV Cup and won in 2013 with a victory over the Vietnamese women's national team featuring players like Ngoc Hoa, Bui Nga, Kim Hue, Pham Yen, Do Minh, etc.
The other two international guests of this year's VTV9-Binh Dien Cup are Suwon (South Korea) and Gunma Green Wings (Japan). The reigning champion of the tournament - PFU BlueCats will not be participating.
The participation of Jiangsu and Gunma promises to ensure the professional quality of the tournament, while also being a great opportunity for players from VTV BDLA, Thong Tin-Dong Bac, LPB Ninh Binh, VietinBank, and Hanoi Tasco Auto to compete and accumulate valuable experience.
