Vietnam's women's volleyball will encounter a formidable rival in the top four stage of the Princess Cup, the Southeast Asian U18 Championship this year.
2026 Southeast Asian U18 Women's Volleyball Championship (Princess Cup 2026) has passed the halfway point. After thrilling and dramatic matches, the top four teams that will compete in the semi-finals have officially been revealed.
Vietnam's U18 squad has been putting on an impressive performance at this year's Southeast Asian Championship. Coach Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa and her team were the first to secure a spot in the top four after consecutive wins over U18 Kyrgyzstan and U18 Philippines. In their last match on June 25, Bùi Thị Ánh Thảo and her teammates easily defeated U18 Malaysia, thus finishing Group B at the top with a perfect record, not losing any set.
After the match between U18 Thailand and U18 Indonesia on the evening of June 25, Vietnam's U18 semi-final opponent was determined. With the loss to the host team, U18 Indonesia will be the next obstacle on our journey to conquer the championship. This will be a big challenge for Coach Ngọc Hoa and her students, as the representative from the archipelago caused quite a lot of trouble for U18 Thailand with their annoying play style.
The other semi-final will be a clash between U18 Thailand and U18 Philippines, where the host team is likely to have an easy victory to book a place in the final. U18 Philippines fought bravely and tenaciously - as shown in their match against U18 Vietnam - but that is not enough for them to surprise the defending champions.
The two semi-finals of the 2026 Southeast Asian U18 Women's Volleyball Championship between U18 Vietnam - U18 Indonesia and U18 Thailand - U18 Philippines will take place at 16:00 and 19:00 on June 27 respectively.
